Volunteers Wanted for a Research Study
We are interested in learning how work, choice, confidence, and activism impact meaning in life. We are looking for adult participants of diverse employment statuses (e.g., employed, unemployed, underemployed), age 18 or older.
Your participation would take about 15-20 minutes of your time and would consist of taking an online survey. Participants may enter a drawing for a chance to win one of five $20 gift cards to (about a 1 in 40 chance of winning).

Spirit Realm Divine Manifestation, a ministry of Evangelism-Counseling-Advocacy has partnered with the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA),  the leading peer-directed national organization focusing on the two most prevalent mental health conditions, depression, and bipolar disorder, which affect more than 21 million Americans, account for 90% of the nation’s suicides every year, and cost $23 billion in lost workdays and other workplace losses.

DBSA Spirit Realm DeSoto County is a faith-based, not-for-profit mental health advocacy organization that provides hope, help, support, and education to improve the lives of people who have mood disorders. One of the main services provided is support groups.  DBSA Spirit Realm primarily serves the DeSoto County, MS area and extends to Memphis, TN. Churches and communities seeking resources (educational programs, speakers, counseling, referrals, support groups, etc) are encouraged to contact us for partnership opportunities.

The next support group for those living with the challenge of depression (diagnosed or non-diagnosed) is Thursday, March 24th at 6:00 p.m. at The Rock Church located at 1760 Stateline Road, Southaven, MS.

February 20, 2014, Memphis, TN – The Born2Win collaborative and Walking Into A New Life, Inc will be hosting a Domestic Violence Community Summit. This educational and informative event takes place on March 8, 2014 from 10:30 until 12 pm at the Church Health Center, 1115 Union Avenue, Memphis, TN 38104. The summit is absolutely free to attend. Survivors, advocates, service providers, business owners, organizational and religious leaders, and those currently dealing with abuse as well as those working with men are strongly encouraged to attend.

Attendees will hear from our dynamic, diverse panel and learn about the initiatives being put in place for men as well as women. The community is invited to become engaged in obtaining information that will help save lives and families. Our experts will share data and answer questions from the public. Attendees will partake of light refreshments, giveaways and tangible takeaway resource materials.

Our community summit panelists are Bennie Cobb, owner of Eagle Eye Security & Training Services, Retired Shelby County Sheriff, Michelle Chaisson, co-owner of Creative Mental Health, Counselor, Ieshea Hartwell, Founder/Executive Director of Agapè Christian Counseling Center, Clinical/Christian Counselor, Marron Thomas, Pastor of Innovation Church & Executive Director of Leadership Empowerment Center and Elizabeth Shelley, Director of Community Education and Advocate for the YWCA’s Immigrant Women’s Services and Abused Women’s Services.

DESCRIPTION The Family Service Worker will be responsible for assisting the Supervisor to provide social work/case management services to parents and children from three (3) to five (5) years of age.

QUALIFICATIONS *High School Diploma or GED; Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Social Services or related field preferred. *One (1) or more year of experience in social service/education setting. *Bi-lingual candidates in Spanish preferred to provide translation services to clients. *Knowledge of community resources. *Ability to work effectively with parents and staff to improve the quality of life for their children. *Ability to work with all organizational levels while maintaining the highest ethical standards, to perceive and deal with sensitive issues while maintaining objectivity & confidentiality, and to work as a team player assisting all employees as necessary. *Good administrative and organizational skills to determine workload priorities to maintain accurate information so that it is readily researched and retrieved with a strong attention to detail. *Strong interpersonal, communication (oral and written) to include good reading skills.
