Le Bonheur Volunteen Program is looking for high school students ages 15-18 that are interested in the volunteer/shadowing program this summer. We will also welcome any college student that may be interested. Please email lbvolunteers@lebonheur.org for questions.

MIFA seeks volunteers for December 19

MIFA needs 8-10 volunteers on Saturday, December 19th, to help pack shelf-stable Meals on Wheels at our office at 910 Vance Ave.  The packing project is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.noon, and volunteers are welcome to come for all or part of that time.

Black Girls CODE, Memphis is thrilled to host their mobile app workshop using MIT’s AppInventor!

No prior programming experience is required and all BGC workshops are geared toward introducing participants to the technological universe and encouraging them to pursue careers as tech creators and entrepreneurs. This event is intended for girls ages 7-17.

When: Saturday, 12/12/15

Cost: $35/girl

Summer Volunteen Program applications now accepted

The hospital is now accepting applications for this summer’s St. Jude Volunteen Program. Teens will participate in a summer experience of learning, personal growth and creative fun while serving patients, siblings and parents. Sessions include opportunities to explore possible career paths and develop leadership and team-building skills while fostering self-awareness. Do you know an individual who fits this definition?  Do you know a local group or business who makes a difference in your community through volunteering?

 

If you answered YES then we need you to take a moment to nominate that person or group for the President’s Volunteer Service Award. Each year, Volunteer Northwest Mississippi honors  outstanding volunteers, groups, and businesses from the eleven county area, to include Bolivar, Coahoma, DeSoto, Leflore, Marshall, Quitman, Panola, Sunflower, Tallahatchie, Tate and Tunica county.

Nominating is easy!  Just briefly brag about the person or group/business in an email to me no later than March 1, 2015.  Be sure to include your contact information (including phone number and email address) and all contact information for your nominee.  Also please include two pictures of your volunteer or group in action.

If your outstanding nominee is selected for this prestigious award, he or she will be honored at an awards banquet onApril 28, 2015 at the Landers Center in Southaven.  Each recipient and a guest will receive complimentary tickets. Extra tickets can be purchased for $25.

No more excuses.  The nominations process has never been easier!  All you have to do is take a moment out of your day to brag about the best person or group you know and send an email tovolunteer@cfnm.org no later than March 1, 2015. Don’t forget two photos capturing your volunteer’s caring spirit and contact information on you and your nominee.
