The Memphis Zoo has seasonal job openings for part-time positions. Seeking candidates who are outgoing, friendly and customer service-oriented with a professional, neat, clean personal appearance and who are able to perform a variety of manual duties such as heavy lifting, climbing, cleaning, extensive walking, prolonged standing, etc. Their busiest time of the year is from late spring through late fall. This is the time when they have the most visitors, the most programs and the most activities. Starting pay ranges from minimum wage to $9.00 per hour based on experience.

The Memphis Office of Youth Services began accepting applications Thursday for its paid youth initiatives, summer jobs program Mploy and the Memphis Ambassadors Program (MAP).

This year, the city will employ 1,000 youths, ages 14 to 21, for six weeks starting in June through the Mploy program, paying $8 to $11 an hour depending on age. The city will also fill about 230 positions for the year-round Ambassadors Program, which pays $100 to $500 per quarter depending on whether the students — from grades 9 to 12 — meet goals set by the city.

The lottery to select the participants in the programs is scheduled for Feb. 8.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Mid-South, Inc. (BBBSMS) is looking for dedicated individuals that have a desire to make a difference in the lives of children and teens.  Your main responsibility is to promote safe, fun activities and mentoring relationships that help children grow and to offer guidance to adults that serve as caring mentors.

BBBSMS is affiliated with a Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.  Our case managers work with children 5-18 years of age from various through two mentoring models- Community-Base and School-Base programming.  Mentors of the Community-Base program share fun educational and recreational activities in the community.  Mentors of the School-Based program spend time doing homework and participating in character-building skills at a partnering school-based mentoring site. Freedom Co-op is a non-profit agency that provides personal care attendants for people with disabilities in the Memphis area. Lowe’s and the Dept. of Labor have partnered to have a Career Fair on April 26th from 9 am to 1 pm. There will be no paper or electronic applications done on site. Applicants will however, be able to meet and speak with members of our Memphis area Human Resource team.
