Affordable Care Act 101 Webinars

SBA, CMS and Small Business Majority will host free Affordable Care Act 101webinars so small business owners can learn the basics of the Affordable Care Act and how they can enroll in health insurance marketplaces. Join us every other Thursday at 2 PM ET.

The deadline for 2015 enrollment in Affordable Care Act health insurance through the Marketplace is February 15.

HIV/AIDS Prevention Services Coordinator SUMMARY: 

The Friends For Life HIV/AIDS Prevention Services Coordinator will help HIV-positive and HIV-negative persons who are at a high risk for HIV transmission or acquisition to reduce risk behaviors and address the psychosocial and medical needs that contribute to risk behavior or poor health outcomes.

Peer Mentor SUMMARY: 

The Friends For Life Corporation Life Peer Mentor will serve as a primary person of contact to provide support for newly HIV infected women, men and their families, person with HIV/AIDS who have been lost from care or substance-using women who are living with HIV or at high risk of contracting HIV.


Social Networks Testing Strategist SUMMARY: 

The Social Networks Testing Strategist will provide daily oversight for the social networking aspect of the CAPUS (HIV/AIDS Care and Prevention for the United States) program operated by Friends For Life Corporation.

DESCRIPTION The Health Disabilities and Nutrition/Family Service Worker will be responsible for assisting the Supervisor to provide social work/case management services to parents and children from 6 weeks to three (3) years of age.

QUALIFICATIONS *High School Diploma or GED; Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Social Services or related field preferred. *One (1) or more year of experience in social service/education setting. *Bi-lingual candidates in Spanish preferred to provide translation services to clients. *Knowledge of community resources. *Ability to work effectively with parents and staff to improve the quality of life for their children. *Ability to work with all organizational levels while maintaining the highest ethical standards, to perceive and deal with sensitive issues while maintaining objectivity & confidentiality, and to work as a team player assisting all employees as necessary. *Good administrative and organizational skills to determine workload priorities to maintain accurate information so that it is readily researched and retrieved with a strong attention to detail. *Strong interpersonal, communication (oral and written) to include good reading skills.

Summary Description: Develops, coordinates, and facilitates HIV testing and educational programming that is both culturally-appropriate and age-appropriate for Hispanic teens and adults in the Mid-South; Cultivates and maintains productive relationships with other agencies and youth-service organizations serving the Hispanic community and creates opportunities to provide education and HIV testing.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Provides HIV testing, counseling, and RESPECT counseling to PPGMR’s Hispanic Outreach and Health Center clients.

2. Runs a network of HIV testing community locations, including locations that require weekly after-hours testing.

3. Cultivates and maintains relationships with agencies and service providers in the community with a particular focus on creating opportunities to provide outreach education and HIV testing to Spanish-speaking clients.

4. Supports staff in creating educational materials and experiences linguistically and culturally appropriate for Spanish-speaking clients

5. Attends training programs, seminars, conferences, and other meetings relating to the delivery of HIV related services

6. Maintains accurate records of HIV testing, client care and referral, education, and outreach activities.

7. Perform other duties as directed

Job Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in health, education, counseling or related area preferred, fluency in Spanish required.

Experience: 1-2 years of experience in health promotion with Spanish-speaking clients strongly preferred; sexual and/or reproductive health experience preferred Skills: Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with youth, parents, community leaders, facilitation, organization, program development, and marketing skills.

Additional Requirements: Demonstrates in cover letter ability to conduct HIV testing and education in Spanish and English

Special Requirements: Committed to Planned Parenthood’s goals and ideals. Knowledge of family planning and sexual health, HIV/AIDS strongly preferred; accepts a flexible work schedule that includes regular night hours; must have an automobile with current driver’s license and insurance; physically able to lift and carry 25 lbs.
