The Arc Mid-South has provided Respite Weekend Retreats for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities for over 30 years. Formatted to be “mini-camps”, the weekend retreats are staffed with a ratio of 3:1 and offer social, recreational, and educational activities to participants while helping campers achieve greater independence.

Attendees will enjoy a variety of recreational activities including games, arts & crafts, entertainment, making tie-dye items, volleyball, nature walks, dancing, movies and learning to be more independent. And they make lifelong friends!

This is a great opportunity for seniors, retirees, or college students specializing in social work, special education, therapy, psychology, nursing, and other social and human service fields.

QUALIFICATIONS

*Requires a high school diploma or a G.E.D. *Requires a minimum of one year working with at risk youth in state custody; experience with juvenile justice, detention, or corrective environment. *Safe driving skills; knowledge of Shelby County roads to efficiently plan routes to and from appointments; ability to use a map to travel to and from a location. *Ability to exhibit initiative in reporting concerns to Supervisor. *Ability to work a heavy workload, under pressure of conflicting deadlines and competing needs. *Ability to perceive and deal with sensitive issues while maintaining confidentiality and objectivity. *Record keeping skills to maintain legible, accurate, up-to-date files so that information is readily researched and retrieved. *Ability to work as a team player to interact and assist all employees as necessary. *Effective oral and written communication skills. *Organizational skills to determine workload priorities. *Ability to recognize and appropriately respond to the cultural differences among the clients served. *Possess the ability to forge a mutually respectful partnership with persons served and their families, conviction about the capacity of people to grow and change, ability to work in partnership with other team members, the ability set limits and maintain the helping role of the employee and the ability to intervene appropriately to meet the needs of the persons served and their families. Mail Courier/General Labor – Memphis, TN

DESCRIPTION

The Mail Courier/General Labor provides support to each work site to include, but not limited to, pick up and carry mail/packages/other items between Porter Leath offices and all work sites (or to other businesses); operate telephone switchboard to support Receptionist on a daily basis; assist with day-to-day basic repairs and maintenance.

QUALIFICATIONS

*High School Diploma or G.E.D. * One year of prior experience within a courier or driver position and a record of safe driving skills. *Valid Driver’s License & good driving history. * Knowledge of basic maintenance functions and techniques. *Ability to multitask in a busy environment. Ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment consisting of a heavy workload and competing needs. *Effective oral & written communication skills; ability to maintain accurate information. *Ability to work with minimal supervision and ability to effectively manage workload with planning. *Organizational & record keeping skills to maintain route schedules/Maintenance logs/Project Lists efficiently so that information is easily obtained.

The RS Monitor will have the responsibilities of being the direct caregiver for client’s and assist clients with basic needs while being a positive adult role model, actively supervising clients and assuring completion of assigned duties/chores, assist with client activities in the building and in community, maintaining key control, communicating problematic situations to supervisors, assist with dispensing medications, and other duties as assigned.

leadership and supervisory skills, ability to lead and coach staff in implementing a DAP (Developmentally Appropriate Practices) curriculum, financial management and organizational skills. Qualified candidates will
have the ability to adapt quickly to change. We are looking for a confident & knowledgeable experienced director to lead this program.
