EVENT GUIDE: Mid-South Independence Day celebrations

(WMC) –  Here is a list of free, family-friendly events!

Memphis Head out to the Levitt Shell on July 3 at 7:30 p.m. for the annual Patriotic Pops concert. The concert will feature American music performed by the Second Presbyterian Chancel Choir and Orchestra and local guests, The Memphis Dawls. Food trucks will be there, but you are welcome to bring your own food and drinks. Active military and veterans will be honored. The evening will end with cannon fire and a fireworks show. The Central Gardens neighborhood is holding its Fourth of July parade at 10 a.m. on Independence Day. There will be free refreshments, patriotic costume competitions for children and pets, music and door prizes. The festivities will be held in the 1500 block of Carr Avenue. Head out to Mud Island River Park on the Fourth of July for an all day celebration. The Mud Island 4th of July Celebration and Fireworks Display starts at 10 a.m. It is free. Bartlett If you’re in the Bartlett area, head over to the lawn of Bartlett Performing Arts and Conference Center, located at Highway 70 and Appling Road, on Thursday, July 3. The Star Spangled Fireworks Extravaganza will begin with live music at 6:30 p.m. with a fireworks show at 9:30 p.m. There will activities for all ages including a car display, children’s games, face painting. Germantown City of Germantown will hold its Fireworks Extravaganza on Friday, July 4, at Municipal Park on Exeter Road. The event will start at 5 p.m. with the fireworks show set to begin at 9:10 p.m. There will be live music, moon bounces, games, crafts and refreshments. Collierville The 29th Annual Independence Day Celebration in Collierville will take place Thursday, July 3, at H. W. Cox Jr Park, located at 440 West Powell Road. The celebration begins at 6:30 p.m. and the fireworks show is scheduled for 9:45 p.m. Catch the free shuttle that will run between Collierville High School and H. W. Cordova

Shelby County Mayor Mark Luttrell will be the Grand Marshall of the Independence Day Celebration & Parade in Cordova. The celebration starts at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, July 4, with the parade beginning at 9:50 a.m. This event will be at the Cordova Community Center located at 1017 Sanga Road. North Mississippi Southaven will hold its annual July 4th Celebration at the Snowden Grove Park Amphitheater on Independence Day. If you’re in the Olive Branch area, head out to the 14th annual Celebrate Your Independence Fireworks and Festival. This free event is Friday, July 4 and gates open at 4 p.m. It will be at the Olive Branch City Park located at 8267 Goodman Road. Live music begins at 6 p.m. with The David Michael New Band, followed by Dr Zarr’s Amazing Funk Monster. There will be food, arts and crafts venders and a special section just for kids! The fireworks display will begin around 9 p.m. and is choreographed to music playing in the park and on The Rebel 95.3/97.7. Celebrate Independence Day at July 4th Fireworks Spectacular in Horn Lake will be on Friday and gates open at 5:30 p.m. The event will be at Latimer Lakes Park located at 5633 Tulane Road. Admission and parking is free. There will be a game zone for kids, live music and food. Sixth Annual Frayser/Raleigh Christmas parade to be held on Saturday, December 7th at 12 Noon.

The parade will begin at Watkins Avenue and Burnham and proceed south until it reaches Frayser Boulevard.  It will then proceed east on Frayser and end at Overton Crossing.

Orion Starry Nights is the largest holiday light show and festival in the Mid-South, and this year it is bigger, brighter and more exciting than ever! New displays will light up the night and new activities will bring the magic of the season to life in Mistletoe Village.

Mistletoe Village features an array of seasonal activities, including ice sculpting demonstrations (Fridays + Saturdays), camel rides, the Starry Petting Zoo, visits and photos with Santa, cozy fire pits and s’more kits, live music, holiday shopping and more!

All proceeds from Starry Nights help keep Shelby Farms Park + Shelby Farms Greenline clean, green and safe.

Tuesday-Sunday: $20 per car, $50 per limo/large van, $150 per charter bus

Mondays are closed to cars for Run, Walk, Ride Nights – a chance to see the lights on foot or bicycle. Run, Walk, Ride Night Admission: $5 per person or $20 per family

All military + emergency services personnel with I.D. receive a $5 discount per car on tickets purchased at the entry gate. This discount is valid every night at the front gate. Not valid for tickets purchased online.
