Request for Proposals:  Tablets for Education Grant

This Request for Proposals (RFP) is designed to create new learning pathways using technology for reading and learning to up to 16 organizations. Each organization can request up to 10 iPads or Amazon Kindle Fires to create labs that will enhance learning and reading proficiency among children K-6. Gift cards will also be provided. Value of grants range from $750 to $5000 in resources.  Schools are not eligible for this round of grants.

The iPads and Amazon Kindle Fire tablets may be used for the following:

  • creation of a learning lab for reading and educational games
  • use of technology as part of classroom/one-on-one learning
  • watching educational videos on sites such as WatchKnowLearn and Khan Academy

The RFP will fund:

  • organizations with a history of successful educational programming
  • organizations in operation for three or more years
  • organizations that participate in Smart Memphis Coalition, Read Across America Month, Strive Mid-South, and/or WriteMemphis
  • special priority is given to existing or emerging Strive Mid-South partners

The RFP will NOT fund:

  • use of tablets for administrative purposes or any use other than increasing reading and math proficiency in children K-6
  • organizations in operation for less than three years
  • organizations with unclear outcomes and evaluation techniques
  • organizations without a strong educational component
