Mid-South Spay & Neuter Services is a 501(c)3 non-profit clinic dedicated to reducing pet overpopulation and

high euthanasia rates by offering affordable spay and neuter surgeries to the public.


Brief Description

 Manages daily clinic operations, including opening/closing, customer relations, daily accounting,

maintenance of records, management of staff and volunteers, making and managing appointments,

ensuring compliance with labor laws, ensuring compliance with veterinary practice regulations and

managing safety of animals, staff, and volunteers.

 Maintains a positive and cooperative attitude as well as drives initiatives for quality improvement.

 Supervises and maintains accurate financial records. Manages annual budget for clinic operations.

 Responsible for maintaining proper control and accurate accounting of daily revenues and deposits.

 Achieves surgery goals through proactive management of the daily appointment schedule, waiting lists,

and appointment processes.

 Accurately maintains and reports daily and monthly surgery data. Maintains and provides accurate

information for grants and projects, as needed.

 Motivates and manages a professional staff. Hire, retain, provide appropriate training for and supervise

vet assistants and clinic volunteers. Ensure employment practices and policies meet legal standards.

 Works with Executive Director to develop and utilize volunteers effectively.

 Submits payroll and maintains accurate employee records. Supports needs of Veterinarians and

maintains ongoing and open communications.

 Inventory management of clinic and office supplies.

 Ensuring clinic is clean and prepared for surgery. Maintaining supply of surgery instruments and

maintenance of equipment. Making sure cages and laundry are properly cleaned.

 Stays informed of current spay/neuter trends and accepted practices.

 Builds relationships with rescue groups and leaders of animal-focus organizations.

 Monitors animals with an emphasis on the health, safety and comfort of each animal having surgery.

 Coordinates activities and efforts with Executive Director as needed.


 High level of customer service needed.

 Experience with staff management needed.

 Experience in a shelter or veterinary practice environment a plus.

 Exceptional communications skills; friendly.

 Detail-oriented, data-driven, highly organized; ability to multi-task.

 Must be proficient with MS Word/Excel and email. Experience with IntraVet software a plus.

 Ability to work early morning (7:00am) and late afternoon hours (6:30pm). Some days may be 12

hours. Occasional weekend and evening events.

 Physical requirements: This position involves bending, lifting up to 50lbs, manual dexterity of fingers,

legs, back, and other joints.
