Comprehensive Grant Writing Seminar
This seminar is aimed toward professionals that work with populations in need, agencies in need of more funding to do something positive or greater projects, capacity building, those needing networking/partnership building, and those who are beginning new non-profit organizations.
You will experience a high-energy training that will be full of amazing tools, real-life applicable examples and experiences that will make you a strong grant writer. You should NOT have to pay thousands of dollars to “grant writers” who can’t the get job done, who can’t guarantee their work, and who disappoint you. You will be able to write grants yourself. Most seminars of this magnitude average $1,000 across the country, but not for you. The cost of this training is $125 per person. At the conclusion of this seminar you will feel prepared and equipped! We look forward to seeing you there!

Memphis Shelby County Helping Homebuyers Program

Offers down payment assistance grants of up to $15,000 for to qualified applicants who are are buying a home in Shelby County.  These funds may also be used for renovating a purchased home.  Funding for the program comes through the settlement from Wells Fargo Bank administered through United Housing.  A two-day event will be held at the Cook Convention Center, East Hall, on November 30 and December 1, 2012 (10:00 am – 7:00 pm) with information about the program.  Pre-registration is preferred for the event, but walk-ins also accepted.  At the event, potential homebuyers can learn more about the grants and apply to get pre-approved for a mortgage, or sign up for free housing counseling.  Free parking is available in the Convention Center Garage at the corner of Front Street and Winchester Street. You will receive a voucher at the event to pay as you exit.

Earth Savers Club Grants

Youth-led school, community, and faith-based groups with an environmental focus can sign up to become a partner of Greening Forward’s Earth Savers Club Program. (It is free to become a partner.) Partners are granted access to a number of resources, including mini grants ($100-500), social activism training, mentorships, and the Earth Saver Award.  No set deadline.

WaysToHelp.org invites teens in the United States to apply for grants to fund their community service ideas across any one of 16 issue areas. Applications are short – just 5,000 words or less – and should summarize: how the project will involve others, who it will help, what effect it’s expected to have, when it will start and how the funds will be used. Grant requests are reviewed and responded to on a monthly basis.No set deadline

The City of Memphis Office of Community Affairs is requesting proposals for the FY 2013 Human Services Grant awards. The grant period will cover services rendered July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013.  All applications must be submitted online.  Applications will be available online beginning April 1 –April 30, 2012 and can be obtained by accessing the City of Memphis Website at https://ocagrants.memphistn.gov. Final awards are subject to funding availability.

The City of Memphis seeks to fund programs that serve low-to-moderate income families that address vital human/social service needs in the following areas:

Cohen Announces $3.7 Million for H-1B Technical Jobs Skills Training Program

H-1B Technical Skills Training Grant

This project will target two (2) high-growth industries – Medical Research and Health Information Technology – and seven occupational training areas within those industries as listed below:

Medical Research

  • Assistant Animal Lab Technician
  • Biotechnology Technician

Health Information (Computer) Technology

  • Health Information Technician
  • Implementation Support Specialist
  • Network & Computer Systems Administrator
  • Health Information & Security Specialist
  • Software Engineer

The project will focus on providing education and training to long-term unemployed workers, and under-employed individuals (including part-time workers) living in Shelby and Fayette Counties, Tennessee.  Program enrollments are projected to begin in April 2012.

Individuals interested in training should contact the training providers directly to learn more about specific training program(s) and corresponding admission or prerequisite requirements.
